What debt is included in debt to income ratio?
Your debt-to-income ratio (DTI) compares how much you owe each month to how much you earn. Specifically, it's the percentage of your gross monthly income (before taxes) that goes towards payments for rent, mortgage, credit cards, or other debt.
The following payments should not be included: Monthly utilities, like water, garbage, electricity or gas bills. Car Insurance expenses. Cable bills.
This includes the payments you make each month on auto loans, student loans, home equity loans and personal loans. Basically, any loan that requires you to make a monthly payment is considered part of your debt when you are applying for a mortgage.

When money owed to you becomes a bad debt, you need to write it off. Writing it off means adjusting your books to represent the real amounts of your current accounts. To write off bad debt, you need to remove it from the amount in your accounts receivable. Your business balance sheet will be affected by bad debt.
In the U.S., the average credit score is 716, per Experian's latest data from the second quarter of 2023. And when you break down the average credit score by age, the typical American is hovering near or above that score.
There are a couple ways credit card debt can damage your credit score: High balances: A major factor in your credit score is your credit utilization ratio (your credit card balances divided by their credit limits). Once this number gets above about 30%, it's bad for your credit.
