The Fusion Thunderbolt 3 NVMe SSD incorporates a PCIe Gen 3 flash controller that enables the device to outperform USB 3.0 flash drives by more than 500%, and is capable of transferring files at rates up to 2600 MB/s.
I have bought Glyph hard drives exclusively for years, because of their dependability. I've owned 10-12 over the years, and none has failed- until now. This year Glyph has obviously made some changes to how they make hard drives with their new "studio" hard drives.
Thunderbolt™ 4 technology advances the standard even further by doubling Thunderbolt™ 3 technology's minimum data transfer bandwidth from 16 Gbps to 32 Gbps.
That drive will perform the same via any of those connections. So for those of you that have been fooled into thinking a Thunderbolt Hard Drive will perform better or offload faster, think twice and ask if it's got an SSD inside. If not, like in most circ*mstances, being Thunderbolt won't make a difference at all.
USB C 3.2 offers top speed of 10 Gbps while Thunderbolt 3 supports speeds up to 40 Gbps, quadrupling the performance of USB C. Additionally, Thunderbolt can power a single 4K display and providing power delivery up to 100W, while USB C 3.2 only supports 5 W power delivery.
Without getting too technical, M.2 PCIe SSDs offer much faster read and write speeds because of their clever architecture which is inspired by RAM. Thanks to the extremely efficient motherboard interface of Gen 4.0 NVMe SSDs, a higher rate of input/output operations per second (IOPS) is possible.
The higher the RPM, the faster the hard drive will be. The standard RPM rate of most hard drives is 7200 RPM but it can range from 5,400 to 15,000. ... An SSD, on the other hand, has no RPM to consider since it doesn't have moving parts because it consists of circuit system than moving parts of HDD.
The Adata XPG Gammix S70 Blade is the fastest PCIe Gen4 SSD with 8TB capacity with excellent read/write performance. At the time of writing, I couldn't find any 8TB Gen5 SSD available on the market. Several vendors announced large capacity PCIe Gen5 SSD as early as 2022 but so far none have gone on sale.
